Smart City Photo Booths is a project designed as a sousveillance experiment, following the tradition of artists and philosophers looking for ways to situate themselves in relation to an urban surveillance context. The provocation is simple: do a little research to see what kinds of publicly available surveillance cameras are available in our neighborhoods, then visit them, thinking them as an opportunity to register ourselves as part of the "smart city" complex. Participants are asked to use the surveillance camera to take a picture of themselves and to take a self-portrait on site, with the camera in the background.
